Welcome to your Alma Mater. This is what your new home looks like.  

Studying at IUC takes 3 or 4 years depending on your choice and starting level.Students are to cover three consecutive levels:

Ø   Base (B Level), which includes the Preparatory year and/or the Foundation year

Ø   Main (Core/Competence, or C Level) – takes up 4 semesters

Ø   D Level (or Degree level). Upon successful completion you will be awarded a Bulgarian Bachelor’s degree.

However, you do not need to stop here. You can continue your studies for a second Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree from one of our foreign partner universities.                                                                                                                              

HOW DO I APPLY? Application pack:

1. Application form (can be downloaded)

2. Copy of your secondary school diploma: the diploma will be recognized only if you have completed 11 or 12 grades, and if it entitles you to continue at a higher school in the country where it has been issued.

3. Copy of your SAT or TOEFL score certificate, or other proof of your language competencies  

CAN I STILL APPLY EVEN IF THE LEVEL OF MY ENGLISH FALLS SHORT OF THE REUIREMENTS? 

Yes. IUC applies a flexible student admission system. If your TOEFL iBT score is below 80, you can still enroll on condition that you do an intensive English language course which runs parallel to the first module in the curriculum. The purpose of this course is to upgrade your language competences to the desired level. If your level of English is somewhere between elementary and intermediate, we offer you to enroll in Preparatory Year.You can start your studies at virtually any time between May 25^th and September 30^th. During that period IUC organizes the hugely popular 5-week intensive English courses (25 hours per week) in the following towns: Dobrich, Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas and Albena resort.  

REGISTRATION AND BEGINNING YOUR STUDIES 

We recommend that you register before the end of May even if you do not have your secondary school diploma. You can do this by filling in and sending an application form (please download the form from our website and follow the instructions in the Admission section). We will contact you and guide you all the way through the procedure for arranging your stay and study in Bulgaria. For further orientation you can visit the website of the Bulgarian embassy in your country.

HOW CAN I CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS MY TUITION FEES? 

Scholarships  

For some programmes you are entitled to a scholarship which comes in the form of a discount deducted from the full tuition fee. This scholarship is also awarded to newly admitted students with a SAT score of over 1,200 (combination of critical reading and math sections) or a TOEFL iBT score of over 90. 

Paid placements

The paid placements are an excellent opportunity for earning much needed cash. You can save as much as 400 – 1,000 euros per month if you do your placement abroad, or anything between 200 and 400 euros per month in Bulgaria. The school offers convenient successions of work and study periods, which allows students to finance their studies even in times when they are short of cash. IUC assists foreign students to find good placements abroad. Some placements are subsidized by the Erasmus programme.

ACCOMMODATION 

Some foreign students are accommodated in the school’s own rooms. Others are offered accommodation at the three-star Hotel Bulgaria, which is right next to the school’s headquarters. For 2008, IUC has negotiated a special student rate per night of 3.5 – 4 euros.However, students can find quite cheap lodging in private flats near the campus.  

OTHER EXPENSES 

As a student, you are entitled to discount meals at the school’s training restaurants and cafes. A good lunchtime meal for example costs 2-3 euros. On the premises, all students have access to the Internet, the library resources and the computer rooms free of charge. If you are a thrifty person, your average monthly expenses for meals, accommodation, entertainment and study literature are unlikely to exceed 150 euros.  

SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT

Students can join special interest activities such as golf, table tennis, football, dances, yoga, music, etc.The frequent theme parties and disco nights are events where you can demonstrate your talent for entertaining, organizing or enjoying yourself.
